Reports indicate that the former media adviser to Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan passed away from a suspected case of cancer. In his condolence message on Friday, Fani-Kayode shared that he was devastated and completely shattered by the death of the doctor-turned-politician.

He described Okupe as a kind-hearted man, a resilient fighter, and a person of remarkable intellect.

Fani-Kayode wrote: “I am deeply and utterly devastated by the news of the passing of my elder brother, Dr. Doyin Okupe.

“He was a truly good man, a determined fighter, a brilliant mind, and a proud Nigerian. He fought a great battle and brought dignity and honor to everything he did.

“For the Believer, death is not the end. As the Bible says, ‘O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?’

“It reminds us that ‘death could not hold Him captive: even in the grave, Jesus is Lord.’

“We do not die but simply transition to another realm and another home. Though absent in the body, we are present with the Lord.

“Goodbye, my dear brother. Rest in peace, knowing that we will miss you dearly.

“May your powerful spirit and unwavering brilliance continue to shine brightly in Heaven. My prayers are with your wife, children, and everyone you left behind. May the Lord provide them with comfort and strength.”
