In response to the question about how explosives were stockpiled without security agencies’ knowledge, Owoseni emphasized the need for regulations on explosives and storage. He highlighted the Exclusive List that governs mining activities and mentioned Governor Makinde’s engagement with the Federal Government to address illegal mining. The interview touched on the challenge of obtaining information from the public, with Owoseni emphasizing the importance of community involvement and reporting to prevent disasters.

On the issue of illegal mining, Owoseni stressed the collective effort required to address it. He mentioned an Executive Order signed by the governor to draw attention to the negative impact of mining on host communities and their states. However, he acknowledged the challenges in enforcing laws in Nigeria, citing the need for citizens to understand and comply with laws. Owoseni also highlighted the importance of upgrading the capacity of security operatives and addressing the proliferation of agencies for better coordination.
