Lagbaja made this announcement during the passing-out ceremony of the 85 Regular Recruits Intake at Depot Nigerian Army in Zaria.

As the reviewing officer and Special Guest of Honour, he emphasized that the graduation of 6,315 recruits would help bridge a significant gap in the army’s efforts to counter insecurity.

He assured law-abiding citizens that they would soon witness a resurgence of stability and a peaceful environment conducive to their lawful activities.

He underscored the fact that these new soldiers are joining the Nigerian Army at a time when the nation faces a multitude of security issues.

These challenges encompass combating insurgency in the North East, addressing banditry and cattle rustling in the North West, and managing farmer-herder clashes in the North Central.

Additionally, they will be tasked with handling secessionist movements and cultism in the South East, as well as addressing militancy and safeguarding national assets from vandalism in the South-South, among other responsibilities.

The COAS urged the commandant of Depot NA and their team to take time over the next few months to contemplate ways to enhance training, aligning the graduates of Depot NA with the evolving demands of field operations.

He also assured that the Nigerian Army Headquarters would continue to support the institution’s training goals by providing the necessary facilities and equipment.
