In a post shared on X alongside a photo of Tinubu, Reno highlighted that this year marks the first festive season in Nigeria’s history without fuel queues or petrol scarcity. He also noted that, despite high food prices, there is enough food available, and Nigerians have reasons to smile, even though the country is not where many had hoped it would be.

He wrote: “This is the first Yuletide season in Nigeria’s history where the following things are happening:

  • Fuel prices have dropped, and there are no fuel queues or petrol shortages.
  • Nigeria is now exporting refined petroleum products to Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
  • Food, though costly, is available.
  • The Federal Government’s inter-state public transport is free during the holidays.
  • Federal workers are receiving the new minimum wage.
  • There have been no major incidents of terrorism or insecurity outside designated conflict zones, which are themselves shrinking, as both Nnamdi Kanu and Simon Ekpa—key figures behind much of the instability in the Southeast—are behind bars.

“We may not be where we want to be as a nation, but things are gradually improving in many areas. As a Nigerian, you have enough reasons to smile this season.”

In response, Frank Edoho wrote, “We are so third-world that the absence of fuel queues and scarcity in an oil-producing country is seen as progress. Reno, please stop.”
