He argued that the Yoruba have lost their sense of pride because they have failed to honor their deities and celebrate their ancestors. He emphasized that the race will struggle to progress if it continues to disregard the importance of its traditional beliefs.
Adams made this statement at the 2024 Ogun Festival held at the Ikorodu Town Hall in Lagos.
He urged Yoruba monarchs to support the cultural agenda of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), adding that under his leadership, the organization will not stop working until the Yoruba regain their pride within the global community.
He said, “In Yoruba land, we have lost our pride of place due to our failure to honor and identify with our deities and ancestors. We cannot make meaningful progress as a people if we continue to disrespect the sanctity of our traditional beliefs by allowing foreign religions to undermine our culture and traditions.
“Culture is one of the best ways to preserve our values and pride as a people. Our identity is our pride. Our culture is our pride. Our tradition is our pride. Our culture encompasses our entire existence; it’s about our traditions, our language, and we must protect it from extinction.”
