City Will Prevail– Rodri Speaks Out On Manchester City’s Premier League Charges

Published

Former Manchester City midfielder Rodri has expressed confidence that the club will ultimately clear its name despite reports that an independent commission found the Premier League champions guilty of 114 of the 115 financial charges brought against them.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the reported findings relate to alleged breaches of Premier League financial regulations covering several seasons. The charges were brought against Manchester City in 2023 following a lengthy investigation into the club’s financial affairs.

The reported verdict has not yet resulted in sanctions, and Manchester City has maintained that the Premier League process remains ongoing. The club has consistently denied wrongdoing and is expected to appeal the findings.

Speaking ahead of Spain’s Nations League meeting with England, Rodri defended his former club and said he continued to believe in Manchester City’s position.

The midfielder pointed to the club’s previous legal battle with UEFA in 2020, when City successfully overturned a two-year ban from European competitions at the Court of Arbitration for Sport after an appeal.

Rodri said his confidence in Manchester City was based on the assurances he received from the club during that earlier case, adding that he believes the current process could ultimately produce a similar outcome.

Manchester City has rejected the allegations since the Premier League charges were announced and has maintained that it has respected due process throughout the investigation. The club has also stated that significant elements of the current process remain to be completed.

The potential consequences of the reported findings have not yet been determined. Possible sanctions could include a points deduction or other disciplinary measures, while reports have also indicated that some Premier League clubs are exploring whether compensation claims could arise from the case.

Rodri, however, maintained that Manchester City’s achievements should not be dismissed while the legal process continues, insisting that he continues to have faith in the club and the justice system.

The case, which has remained one of the most closely watched disciplinary matters in English football, is now expected to move into an appeal phase if Manchester City formally challenges the findings.
