In a statement issued by Mohammed Bougei Attah, the national coordinator, the coalition emphasized that the Nigerian government’s commitment to revitalizing Ajaokuta as a means to propel the country’s industrialization is commendable and reassuring.

However, the coalition urged caution against using the Pittsburgh summit as a political instrument, reminiscent of the approach taken during the previous administration of President Muhammadu Buhari after the 2019 Sochi summit.

While acknowledging the positive efforts made during Buhari’s tenure, the coalition stressed that it’s in the best interest of the current administration to steadfastly pursue the goal of successfully reviving the Ajaokuta steel plant.

The statement concluded by appealing to the Tinubu administration to revive, restructure, and sustain the Ajaokuta Presidential Project Implementation Team (APPIT), and suggested including representatives from civil society groups as part of the membership.
