In a fierce encounter on Monday, July 17, 2023, at the Fuji Junction general area in Asaba, Delta State, a combined operation involving the 63 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Police, and operatives of the Department of State Services successfully neutralized two fighters affiliated with IPOB/ESN (Indigenous People of Biafra/Eastern Security Network) and arrested five others. The terrorists faced the overwhelming firepower of the combined troops, resulting in the demise of two of their members during the intense firefight. The surviving fighters fled to their hideout in the vicinity of Okpanam river. However, the gallant troops pursued them and successfully tracked them down to a house near the Okpanam river, where they were apprehended.
During the operation, the troops recovered significant weapons and ammunition, including one AK-47 rifle, one pump-action semi-automatic rifle, 15 live cartridges, one AK-47 rifle magazine, and a Baofeng Radio Receiver. CONTINUE READING
