Coercion, Not Conviction: APC Forcing Politicians With EFCC, ICPC – CUPP’s Osadolor Reveals

Reacting to the defection of Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, and other PDP heavyweights, Osadolor told Punch that the defections were not motivated by ideology or progress but by pressure from state-backed intimidation.
“For some of us, this isn’t surprising,” he said. “We’ve long warned about how the APC has turned state institutions into weapons of political oppression. Each time an opposition figure speaks out, you see the EFCC, ICPC, or DSS suddenly spring into action.”
He argued that the APC lacks any meaningful appeal, and many politicians cross over only after being backed into a corner. “When the EFCC or ICPC comes knocking, you’re judged in the public eye before any trial begins. The shame, the stress—it’s often too much to bear,” Osadolor noted.
He added that the fear of public disgrace, family humiliation, and social stigma has pushed some politicians into defecting to the APC in hopes of escaping the heat. “It’s not about loyalty to the ruling party—it’s about survival. The APC is using institutions meant to uphold justice as tools of political control,” he concluded.
