Community Leader Pushes For Reversal Of Small Alcohol Container Prohibition....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) continues to urge the Federal Government to lift the ban on sachet alcoholic drinks, citing concerns over job losses and the viability of local distillers. MAN’s Director-General, Segun Ajayi-Kadir, emphasized the importance of rescinding the ban to support industry stability and economic growth.

Meanwhile, National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) maintains that the ban, initially imposed on February 1, 2024, remains in effect pending further directive from the Minister of Health. Despite recent discussions by the Federal House of Representatives questioning the timing of the ban in light of economic realities, NAFDAC’s Director-General, Prof. Moji Adeyeye, asserts the need to uphold the ban as a measure against underage access and substance abuse.

Ajayi-Kadir reiterated MAN’s commitment to addressing health concerns through education and stricter access controls rather than prohibition. He expressed optimism that ongoing dialogue will lead to a reconsideration of the ban, benefiting both industry stakeholders and the Nigerian economy.
