When asked about strategies for overcoming pornography addiction, Damina advised against forcefully quitting. Instead, he suggested a method involving simultaneous exposure to pornography and religious teachings. “Don’t struggle to stop watching the porn. Don’t struggle at all. Just keep watching the porn. As you are watching the porn, spend more time hearing the ‘word’,” he said. His advice emphasized spending significant time studying religious teachings alongside exposure to pornography, with the belief that this would diminish the addiction over time.

However, Damina’s remarks faced criticism, particularly from conservative Christians on social media who viewed his approach as promoting sinful behavior. Pastor Gideon Odoma from the Fortress Ministry denounced pornography as a perversion and cautioned against trivializing such activities. He also criticized Damina and another religious figure, Apostle Suleman, accusing them of promoting erroneous teachings.

Meanwhile, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome weighed in on the issue, citing biblical references to condemn pornography as a sinful behavior. He highlighted the biblical view of nudity as shameful and emphasized the need for Christians to abstain from such activities.

Despite Damina’s controversial stance, his remarks have sparked a broader conversation about how to address pornography addiction within religious communities in Nigeria.
