Controversy Erupts As Imo Tribunal Utilizes Pre-election Issue To Refuse Victory To PDP Candidate In Ideato North

It’s worth recalling that this same pre-election matter was used by the three-member panel to invalidate the election victory of Hon.

Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, a member of the House of Representatives representing Ideato North/South Federal constituency of Imo State.

Ugochinyere had previously won the election convincingly and was declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

In relation to this issue, the Supreme Court, in December of the previous year, declared Ugochinyere as the legitimate PDP candidate for the Ideato North and South federal constituency.

In a judgment delivered by a five-member panel of Supreme Court Justices, it was determined that there were no valid grounds presented before the panel to void Ugochinyere’s candidacy, as he had fulfilled all legal requirements and adhered to the stipulated guidelines.
