Controversy Erupts As Kano Governor Dissolves Five Emirate Councils....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has officially enacted a significant legislative change by signing the bill that abolishes the State Emirate Council Law of 2019, which established five emirate councils within the state. The state House of Assembly, in a session held on Thursday, passed the bill aimed at dismantling the additional emirates created during the tenure of former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, effectively removing all five emirs from their positions.

The new legislation, known as the Kano State Emirates Council (Amendment No.2) Law of 2024, dismantles the five-emirate structure and eliminates the positions of first-class emirs in Gaya, Rano, Karaye, and Bichi. Governor Yusuf finalized the enactment of the law following a closed-door meeting with key stakeholders, including Kano kingmakers and lawmakers led by Speaker Jibrin Falgore, held at the Government House.
