Controversy Erupts As Nwosu Links INEC, Appeal Court Decisions To Jagaban Politics
Former National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, Ralph Nwosu, has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission of acting under the influence of President Bola Tinubu.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Speaking on Channels Television, Nwosu argued that INEC’s decision to withdraw recognition from the party’s leadership was politically driven.
He further alleged that the electoral body’s leadership is aligned with the ruling All Progressives Congress.
According to him, both INEC’s interpretation of events and the ruling of the Appeal Court were flawed, claiming they were influenced by what he described as “Jagaban politics.”
Nwosu also alleged that INEC Chairman, Joash Amupitan, is connected to the APC, adding that key institutions and actors are being influenced to favour the ruling party.
He linked the situation to a broader trend in Nigeria’s political space, arguing that similar patterns have played out since 2019, particularly in Lagos politics, where opposition parties have been weakened.
Nwosu claimed that the same approach is now being extended nationally, but noted that Nigerians are beginning to resist it.
He maintained that the ADC remains a viable platform for opposition and democratic resistance, stressing that the issue goes beyond individuals and reflects a wider struggle for political balance in the country.
His remarks come in the wake of the #OccupyINEC protest in Abuja, which featured prominent political figures such as Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar, Rabiu Kwankwaso, David Mark, Rauf Aregbesola, and Rotimi Amaechi.
