Egbetokun, who was represented by the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 11, Paul Ojeka Odama, during a visit to the Oyo Police Command in Ibadan, emphasized the importance of officers avoiding any actions that could damage the image of the police force.

The police chief conveyed to the officers in the Oyo command that neither he nor anyone else requires any personal gain from them. The leadership of the police force simply expects them to diligently fulfill their constitutional responsibilities.

Odama mentioned, “Policing is a noble profession, standing for justice and peace. Officers must be vigilant against any behavior that could tarnish the good reputation of the force. The new Inspector General of Police is unwavering in his commitment to a zero-tolerance approach to corruption.”

He further emphasized that the officers’ duty is not to collect bribes from motorists, and he condemned the practice of commercial drivers collecting money from passengers to bribe the police. He urged officers to carry out their responsibilities with a sense of responsibility and adherence to the law.

In addition, the police cautioned officers to be cautious in their conduct on social media, particularly in terms of sharing posts. They were reminded to verify information before sharing it to avoid spreading misinformation or exacerbating tension in their respective areas of responsibility.
