The Kano State High Court, under the direction of Justice Amina Adamu Aliyu, has scheduled July 2nd, 2024 for the hearing of various motions in an ongoing case involving the Kano Attorney General, Kano House of Assembly, and its Speaker. During Monday’s proceedings, Counsel for Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, Bar. Ibrahim Mukhtar, submitted counter affidavits and three motions challenging the jurisdiction of the court, the validity of a prior ex-parte order, and contesting the injunction barring the defendants from claiming the titles of Emirs of Kano, Bichi, Rano, Gaya, and Karaye.

Despite the readiness of the Originating Summons for hearing, the court exercised its discretion to expedite the process in view of the case’s urgency. Justice Amina Adamu Aliyu instructed all parties to be notified and set the date of July 2nd for the hearing.

Defendants named in the case include Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, Alhaji Nasiru Bayero, Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar II, Alhaji Kabiru Muhammad Inuwa, Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim Gaya, alongside the Inspector General of Police, the Director of the Department of State Services, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Nigerian Army.
