Presiding Judge Justice Binta Nyako explained that a similar request from Kanu had previously been rejected due to its lack of merit. In her ruling, Justice Nyako noted that Kanu had violated the terms of his bail by fleeing the country. Additionally, the individuals who had served as his sureties requested to be released from their obligations, citing their inability to locate Kanu.

Justice Nyako stated that Kanu’s recourse is to appeal the decision to the Court of Appeal. She refuted the argument made by Kanu’s lawyer, asserting that the Supreme Court’s judgment did not support the reinstatement of his bail. Despite reviewing the Supreme Court’s ruling, Justice Nyako did not find merit in the lawyer’s claims.
