Court Decides On Nnamdi Kanu’s Bail Application, Orders Release From DSS Custody....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The Federal High Court in Abuja has denied the request of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Biafra separatist movement, to reinstate his bail and release him from the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS).
Presiding Judge Justice Binta Nyako explained that a similar request from Kanu had previously been rejected due to its lack of merit. In her ruling, Justice Nyako noted that Kanu had violated the terms of his bail by fleeing the country. Additionally, the individuals who had served as his sureties requested to be released from their obligations, citing their inability to locate Kanu.
Justice Nyako stated that Kanu’s recourse is to appeal the decision to the Court of Appeal. She refuted the argument made by Kanu’s lawyer, asserting that the Supreme Court’s judgment did not support the reinstatement of his bail. Despite reviewing the Supreme Court’s ruling, Justice Nyako did not find merit in the lawyer’s claims.
Meanwhile, Kanu has maintained his stance of non-participation in any legal proceedings in Nigeria, arguing that prosecuting him would contravene the Nigerian Constitution and international law.
