Temo was apprehended by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in the Mushin area of Lagos on Monday, after years of avoiding capture.
On Friday, July 26, 2024, Justice Akintayo Aluko issued the remand order following an NDLEA application for the suspect to be held for further investigation.
The court also ordered the interim seizure of a grey 2022 Mercedes Benz SUV GLE 156, with Registration number 01G-300G and chassis No. 4JGFB4JB9NA622055, belonging to Temo. The vehicle, allegedly acquired through drug trafficking, will be held by the Federal Government of Nigeria until the case is resolved.
Additionally, the court confirmed that the SUV, which is already in NDLEA custody, is to be deemed as properly held.
NDLEA’s request for the remand and vehicle seizure was granted after the agency’s lawyer, Lambert Nor, argued an Exparte motion. Nor referenced various legal statutes and presented a 23-paragraph affidavit from Kayode A. Ojo, a litigation officer with NDLEA.
NDLEA’s grounds for the orders included Temo’s status as a prominent drug trafficker in West Africa, the seizure of multiple drug shipments linked to him, and the necessity for comprehensive investigation and legal custody of both the suspect and the seized vehicle.
Justice Aluko approved the orders and adjourned the case to August 9, 2024, for an update on the investigation.
