In a statement issued in Abuja on Saturday, Abdullahi, a former Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, expressed his concerns amid recent Federal Government intervention in the dispute between the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Authority and Dangote Refinery.

Reports have surfaced about the refinery’s struggles, one of Africa’s largest oil facilities, in securing local crude oil. Abdullahi highlighted that vested interests have for decades kept the nation’s four refineries ineffective, unable to meet domestic demand.

He pointed out that instead of appreciating Aliko Dangote’s efforts to reduce Nigeria’s reliance on imported refined petroleum products, some factions are working to hinder the refinery’s success.
