Court Slams INEC: Bars Recognition Of David Mark, Aregbesola As ADC Leaders

The Federal High Court in Abuja has barred the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognising former Senate President David Mark and ex-Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola as interim National Chairman and National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Justice Emeka Nwite issued the interim injunction after considering a motion ex parte dated September 2, 2025, filed by Nafiu Gombe.

In the case, the ADC, Mark, and Aregbesola were listed as the first, second, and third defendants, while INEC and former ADC national chairman Ralph Nwosu were joined as the fourth and fifth defendants.

The court ordered that INEC must refrain from acknowledging Mark, Aregbesola, or their representatives pending the hearing of a motion on notice already filed in the matter.

This ruling halts INEC’s earlier move, which had updated its official website to reflect Mark and Aregbesola as leaders of the ADC. Their status now remains uncertain until the substantive case is decided.

The development follows INEC’s prior confirmation, announced by ADC National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi on , that Mark and Aregbesola had been recognised as the party’s new national executives.
