His resignation was contained in a personally signed letter dated August 24, 2025, which was made available to journalists.
In the letter titled “Resignation As The Speaker, Benue State House of Assembly,” Dajoh stated:
“I hereby resign my position as Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly with effect from today, August 24, 2025. This decision is made in good faith and in the best interest of our dear state. I sincerely appreciate my colleagues for the privilege of serving as first among equals. I remain committed to my duties as a legislator and representative of Gboko West State Constituency.”
The resignation comes just two days after Governor Hyacinth Alia dismissed speculations linking him to an alleged plot to impeach the Speaker.
In a statement released on Friday through his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, the Governor denied any involvement in the matter, insisting that he holds the legislature in the highest regard.
The statement partly read:
“Governor Hyacinth Alia is not aware of, nor has any role in, any alleged plan to remove the Speaker or in the current activities of the Benue State House of Assembly. The Governor maintains utmost respect for the legislature, the rule of law, and the principle of separation of powers. He has always responded to communications and resolutions transmitted to him by the House.”
