Galaudu, who represented Kebbi North Senatorial District from 2011 to 2015, conveyed his decision in a letter dated August 20, addressed to the PDP ward chairman in Augie North, Alhaji Muhammadu Aliyu Danbuga.

In the letter, the former Chief of Staff to the Senate President stated that his resignation was with immediate effect.

“I write to inform you of my resignation as a member of the PDP with immediate effect. It is evident that the PDP has fallen under the control of politicians aligned with the ruling party at the national level,” Galaudu declared.

Galaudu, who was also the PDP’s governorship candidate in the 2019 elections in Kebbi, explained that his exit was prompted by troubling developments within the party, which, according to him, threatened its very survival.

“My resignation has become necessary in light of recent happenings in the party and their likely consequence of total collapse,” he added.

Although Galaudu did not reveal his next political direction, he remains a strong political figure in Kebbi State. A former banker, he also served as a board member of Usman Dan Fodio University, Sokoto, and continues to wield considerable influence in Kebbi politics.
