Criticism Mounts: Ndume Expresses Outrage At Senate Chamber Renovation....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a recent interview with Channels Television’s Politics Today, Senate Chief Whip Ali Ndume expressed dissatisfaction with the renovation work carried out in the Senate Chamber, labeling it as substandard.
During the interview, Ndume invoked Order 42 of the Senate Standing Rules to underscore his critique, likening the Chamber to a mere conference hall. He highlighted various deficiencies in the renovated space, including poor sound quality leading to echoes, inadequate seating arrangements, and the absence of voting devices.
Ndume’s remarks drew a response from Senate President Godswill Akpabio, who asserted that concerns about seating arrangements among senators had been largely addressed, with a resolution rate of 99.9%. Akpabio clarified that the renovation contract was not awarded by the 10th National Assembly.
While the debate over the quality of the Senate Chamber renovation continues, it underscores broader discussions about accountability and transparency in government contracts and the importance of ensuring public funds are utilized effectively.
