The event attracted several prominent figures, including three governors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other notable dignitaries. Kefas had earlier postponed his official switch to the APC following the abduction of schoolgirls in Kebbi State.
Addressing attendees, Kefas emphasized that his decision is rooted in patriotism rather than political rivalry. He praised Governor Ahmadu Fintiri as a unifying figure and stressed that any disagreements between them stem solely from his move to the APC, asserting that his choice serves the best interests of the people of Taraba.
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, cautioned against efforts to establish a one-party system in Nigeria, lauding the Margi nation for its rare show of unity and honoring Governor Fintiri. He also highlighted Fintiri’s impressive political trajectory, from his early roles in the House of Assembly to his current position as governor.
Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, conveyed the goodwill of his fellow PDP governors and underscored the importance of cultural preservation in nation-building. On behalf of the forum, he announced a ₦50 million donation to support cultural initiatives in Taraba State.
