Reports indicate that the individual, identified as Hadaina Hussaini (Dan-Taki), made the threatening remark on Facebook, vowing retaliation against southerners living in northern Nigeria. The comment followed the lynching of 16 travelers from the north in Uromi. Hussaini allegedly swore by Almighty God, stating that northerners would take decisive action within a week.
In response to mounting criticism, Hussaini changed his first name and restricted access to his Facebook profile.
The Kaduna Police Command, through a statement on Friday, clarified that Hussaini is not a member of the Nigerian Police Force or the Kaduna State Police Command. While he had once been a member of the Police Special Constabulary attached to the Kaduna State Constabulary Office, he was dismissed two years ago due to his questionable conduct.
The statement further explained that the images of Hussaini in police uniform, circulating on social media, were taken prior to his dismissal. It also noted that the uniform displayed the “PSC/KD” emblem, indicating his affiliation with the Police Special Constabulary.
Hussaini has been arrested and will face charges upon completion of the ongoing investigation.
The Kaduna Police Command emphasized that the Nigerian Police Force is committed to maintaining law and order and does not condone any form of incitement or hate speech. It urged the public to remain calm and report any suspicious activity to the police.
