The investment, exceeding $280 million, not only positions Dangote Group as a leader in the CNG sector but also reflects its dedication to combating climate change and facilitating a transition to a low-carbon economy. Dangote noted that this initiative aims to assist the current administration in shifting from petroleum products to CNG.
Arvind Pathak, Group Managing Director of Dangote Cement Plc, elaborated on the investment, which focuses on acquiring a fleet of trucks powered entirely by CNG. “By mid-2026, Dangote Cement plans to operate a fleet primarily driven by CNG. To support this transition, we are investing in expanding our CNG fueling infrastructure to ensure reliable access to CNG for our growing fleet,” he said.
Pathak further emphasized that the company’s investments in CNG infrastructure are facilitating Nigeria’s move toward cleaner fuel alternatives. He pointed to the CNG station in Obajana, capable of refueling over 3,000 trucks, as a testament to this commitment, with plans for a second station in Ibese underway to enhance fleet operations
