Daniel Bwala Accuses Yahaya Bello Of Committing Criminal Offense By Avoiding EFCC Arrest

Lawyer and public affairs analyst, Daniel Bwala, has criticized former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, for avoiding arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The EFCC had attempted to arrest Bello on April 17, citing alleged involvement in a N80 billion fraud.

During the attempted arrest at Bello’s residence in Abuja, Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi visited him. It’s reported that Ododo aided Bello’s departure from his residence in Wuse Zone 4 District, Abuja, thus thwarting the EFCC’s efforts. Consequently, the EFCC agents left without arresting Bello, subsequently declaring him wanted.

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has placed Bello on a watchlist, and the Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, withdrew police details assigned to him. The EFCC accuses Bello, alongside Alli Bello, chief of staff to Ododo, and Daudu Suleiman, of diverting approximately N80.2 billion belonging to the Kogi government.

In an interview on Channels Television’s breakfast show The Morning Brief, Bwala stated that Bello’s evasion of arrest constitutes an offense. He urged the former governor to surrender and report to the EFCC’s headquarters immediately.
