Davido And I Have No Issues – Rema Speaks Out An Reported Rift
Nigerian singer Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has dismissed rumours of a feud between him and Afrobeats superstar Davido, insisting that there is no issue between them.
Rema addressed the speculation during a Saturday interview with Ebro Laura Style, where he discussed his relationship with older Nigerian artistes, fan comparisons and how such comparisons can sometimes create the impression of rivalry within the music industry.
According to Bush Radio Academy, the “Calm Down” hitmaker stated that he has great respect for established artistes in the Nigerian music scene and has no personal problem with Davido.
“Davido and I have no issues; those are just rumours. I have so much respect for the OGs,” Rema said during the interview.
The singer further explained that fans are often responsible for creating comparisons between artistes, which can eventually fuel rumours of competition or conflict.
Rema revealed that he had previously advised his supporters against comparing him with other musicians. However, he said he eventually stopped doing so after noticing that some artistes appeared to enjoy the comparisons while not discouraging similar behaviour among their own fan bases.
“Fans are always the ones starting things. I used to caution my fans, but sometimes the other artiste enjoys the comparisons and doesn’t do the same, so I stopped,” he added.
His comments come amid recurring discussions among music fans about the relationship between Nigeria’s leading Afrobeats stars, with social media comparisons often sparking speculation about possible rivalries.
Rema’s latest remarks, however, make clear that he does not consider himself to be involved in any dispute with Davido and maintains his respect for the older generation of Nigerian artistes.
