Davido Breaks Silence On His Connection With The City Boy Movement

In a post shared on his official social media page, the singer admitted that entertainers, including himself, have not done enough to speak out against injustice and the worsening state of affairs in the country. He stressed that the situation has become too serious for influential figures to remain silent.

Davido urged fellow entertainers to use their platforms to highlight the problems affecting citizens, writing:

“I can’t lie, we entertainers… we dey f**k up, I won’t lie, including me. We need to speak up. It’s too much injustice going on. Our country don go.”

The statement sparked mixed reactions online, with some praising him for his honesty, while others criticized his sincerity and motives.

A social media user, identified as Princess Luna, responded harshly, accusing the singer of being insincere and linking him to a political movement, suggesting his comments were performative.

She wrote: “Na God go punish you and your family… go and do that performative rubbish in your City Boys group chat…”

Her comment appeared to provoke the singer, who responded strongly while denying any political affiliation.

Davido insisted he is not part of any “City Boy” group and recalled that he had previously criticized the government publicly.

He said that after speaking out during an appearance on American media, he was heavily criticized by Nigerians.

“I no dey part of any City Boy group. When I called out the government on American media, you guys rained curses on me,” he said.

He further clarified that his relationship with “ST” was purely personal and not political, adding that he often expresses his concerns directly.
