As previously reported, the singer sparked backlash from some Nigerians after making remarks about the country’s struggling economy and advising Nigerians in the diaspora against returning to Nigeria. These comments drew sharp criticism, with some calling for his December 24th concert in Lagos to be canceled.

In a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account, Davido acknowledged the threats but made it clear that he is not concerned. He wrote: “LAGOS DEC 24TH! They say they’ll cancel my show because of my interview… loooool I don’t have to perform in NIGERIA.”

Davido Praises Nigerian Excellence in the U.S.

In addition to addressing the show controversy, Davido also took the opportunity to highlight the achievements of Nigerians on the global stage. Speaking during an appearance on the Afric TV program, he praised Nigerians for excelling in various fields, particularly in the medical profession.

“The best doctors in America are Nigerians. You can search it,” he said. “Nigerians are among the brightest minds, not just in music, but also in other industries. Even Western filmmakers are now looking to Africa for inspiration and ideas.”

He also emphasized the creative and intellectual prowess of Africans, stating, “At my record label, Sony Music, Africans bring the best ideas. This shows that our imagination is limitless.”

Davido’s remarks are a testament to the global influence and excellence of Nigerians in various sectors.
