Famous musician David Adeleke, known as Davido, recently asserted that his family plays a significant role in distributing electricity across Nigeria. He highlighted their ownership of four power plants during an appearance on the American podcast, ‘Business Untitled,’ where he discussed his family’s business ventures and personal investments.

Davido mentioned his brief foray into cryptocurrency due to its popularity in Nigeria, but emphasized his family’s primary focus on their energy sector investments. He stated, “Apart from that, me and my family have like four power plants worth a lot of money. We distribute energy to most of Nigeria.”

Despite Davido’s assertion, it’s worth noting that the majority of Nigeria’s major thermal and hydropower plants are government-owned. Thus, while Davido’s family may have a presence in the energy sector, it’s unlikely that they exclusively supply most of Nigeria’s energy needs.
