Former Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, made a triumphant return to his hometown of Jattu, in Etsako West Local Government Area of the state, on Friday. This homecoming follows his impeachment, concluding a protracted feud with his former boss, Governor Godwin Obaseki.

The decision to impeach Shaibu, as explained by Charity Aiguobarueghian, the Majority Leader of the Edo State House of Assembly during an appearance on Channels Television Morning Brief, stemmed from allegations that he divulged sensitive state security and financial information.

Shaibu, sharing his experience on social media, expressed gratitude for the warm reception he received in Jattu. He described the scene as a carnival, with crowds lining the streets to welcome him back. The community members, adorned in their distinctive orange attire, along with masquerades, gathered eagerly at the Jattu junction to greet him.

Overwhelmed by the outpouring of support, Shaibu waved in appreciation, acknowledging the unwavering backing he has received from his constituents and Nigerians at large, particularly during recent challenging times.

He extended his gratitude to his supporters and the people of Jattu for their resilience and unity in the face of adversity and intimidation.
