Davido Reveals Sh*cking Story Of How Skipping School Landed Him In Serious Trouble

Sharing the story on his Instagram page, he revealed that at the time, he was a university student trying to balance academics with his rising passion for music.

He joined a major concert in Ibadan, not knowing it would be broadcast nationally. The unexpected TV appearance caused serious tension at home after his father saw it.

More than a decade later, Davido has returned to Ibadan as part of his nationwide 5ive Alive Tour, performing before massive crowds and reflecting on how far he has come since taking that bold step toward his musical dream.

The tour has since moved to other major cities across Nigeria, attracting thousands of enthusiastic fans.

He wrote:
“In 2011, I skipped school to perform in Ibadan. Asa, Peju, B Red, and Sina picked me up from Babcock, and we drove to join the Lynxxx and Friends Tour.

“I didn’t know it would air on Soundcity, and when my pops saw it, I got into so much trouble.

“14 years later, we shut down the stadium. The 5ive Alive run across Nigeria has been one for the books.

“To my peers, let’s build back home and give back to our roots. Big love to all our sponsors for supporting this historic tour.

“Abuja and Lagos up next, but first stop is ATL for my birthday, State Farm Arena on November 20th.”
