Sh*ck Reveal: Olamide Declares Who Truly Rules Afrobeats After Fela

The Metaverse hitmaker made the remark while addressing students at York University in Toronto on Thursday.

Olamide explained that he has worked with Wizkid for over a decade, dating back to their early collaborations in 2011. According to him, those projects allowed him to witness Wizkid’s evolution and consistency firsthand.

He noted that Wizkid’s influence has pushed Afrobeats into new global territories, a feat he believes sets the superstar apart from his peers.

His declaration triggered loud cheers from the audience.

He said: “I’ve had the privilege of working with Wizkid; we’ve made so many songs together. You know say after Fela, Wizkid is the greatest Afrobeats artiste ever.”

Olamide’s comment comes just days after he spoke about how the late rapper DaGrin shaped his artistry and inspired countless musicians across Nigeria.

He praised DaGrin’s 2009 album C.E.O as a timeless body of work that continues to influence him and many Southwestern rappers, describing it as one of the few rap albums that fans in the region can recite from start to finish and a reliable source of creative inspiration.
