Defection Fever: Another House Of Reps Member Dumps PDP, Joins APC Ahead Of 2027

The lawmaker representing Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency in Benue State, Ojema Ojotu, has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

His defection was made public through a letter read during Tuesday’s plenary session of the House of Representatives, presided over by Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu.

Ojotu, who also serves as Chairman of the House Committee on Inland Waterways, said his decision was driven by the persistent internal crisis and unresolved leadership tussles within the PDP.

According to him, the APC offers a more stable and progressive platform through which he can better serve his constituents and contribute to national development.

In his letter, Ojotu wrote:

“I wish to formally notify the Speaker and my esteemed colleagues of my decision to resign from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) effective Wednesday, October 8, 2025.

“This decision follows the deepening internal crisis, leadership wrangling, and divisions that have left the party without clear direction from the national level down to my constituency.

“After extensive consultations with my family, political associates, stakeholders, and the good people of Apa/Agatu, I have resolved to join the All Progressives Congress (APC), which I believe provides a more stable and visionary platform to pursue the interests of my people and contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s progress.”

Ojotu’s defection marks yet another major setback for the PDP, which has recently witnessed a wave of defections ahead of the 2027 general elections.
