The recent endorsement of Senator Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole by Edo North leaders is more than a routine show of support; it is a strong statement of party discipline, loyalty, and performance.

Oshiomhole’s leadership has remained steady and purposeful from his days as governor to his current role in the National Assembly. His latest empowerment programme once again reflected that trademark touch of practicality and empathy — distributing tricycles, sewing machines, grinding machines, hairdressing equipment, welding kits, motorcycles, and starter funds to traders, farmers, and artisans drawn from all six local government areas of Edo North. The initiative was not a show of wealth but a continuation of his long-standing belief that true representation must translate into livelihoods improved, households supported, and communities strengthened.

Just a day after that event, he commissioned a nine-block ultra-modern classrooms in Akoko-Edo, further demonstrating his commitment to infrastructure and education. These are not isolated projects; they represent a pattern of steady delivery and direct impact at the grassroots.

Beyond performance, the recent endorsement also highlights Oshiomhole’s unwavering loyalty to the APC and his early commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda. At a time when open support for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu was seen as politically risky across much of the South-South during the 2023 elections, Oshiomhole stood firm and led from the front. I recall vividly, as a member of the Presidential Campaign Council, how he told his people that if they had to choose just one APC candidate out of the three positions on the ballot — President, Senate, and House of Representatives — that candidate must be Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, even before himself.

It was an uncommon display of conviction and party discipline. Many politicians were reluctant to be seen campaigning for the APC presidential candidate in the region because of the pressure and hostility from the Obidient movement then. Yet Oshiomhole stood firm, and in the end Edo North delivered handsomely for Tinubu.

He showed the same courage when he challenged the controversial naira redesign policy of the then CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele. While others kept silent, Oshiomhole spoke openly, warning that the policy would inflict hardship and could destabilize the electoral process. Time has proven him right.
