Addressing reporters after briefing President Bola Tinubu at Aso Rock Villa in Abuja, Musa assured Nigerians that the military is committed to achieving the country’s crude oil production target of 2.1 million barrels per day.

“To the criminals who persist in vandalizing our infrastructure and stealing crude oil, their days are numbered. We are determined to apprehend them,” Musa stated firmly.

Nigeria, a major oil producer in Africa, has grappled with significant challenges related to oil theft for more than two decades. The country loses an estimated 200,000 barrels of oil daily due to theft, amounting to about 10% of its daily production. This illicit activity often involves pipeline vandalism and illegal bunkering, where stolen oil is sold on the black market.

In related developments, Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun assured Nigerians of enhanced security measures, highlighting a decline in the national crime rate. He attributed this improvement to collaborative efforts and effective strategies implemented by security agencies. Egbetokun affirmed the commitment of security formations to strengthen synergy for better national security.

President Tinubu, in response, encouraged security agencies to maintain their coordinated efforts and further enhance security across the country.
