Veteran journalist and former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential aspirant, Dele Momodu, has emphasized that the crises within the PDP are not unique, pointing out that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is also grappling with internal divisions across the country.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In an interview with The Guardian, Momodu dismissed the narrative that the PDP is the only party facing internal turmoil, highlighting that the APC is also dealing with factional disputes, even within President Bola Tinubu’s stronghold in Lagos. He questioned why the focus has been solely on the PDP’s issues, noting that other political parties, including the APC, are facing their own challenges.

He stated, “There is a crisis in every party, not just the PDP. The APC, even in President Bola Tinubu’s Lagos base, is going through turmoil. So why is the PDP being singled out? Even though they are in power, the APC is riddled with conflicts nationwide.”

Momodu also alleged that certain figures within the PDP are conspiring with rival parties to undermine the opposition, warning that such betrayal would have serious consequences.

He added, “What’s happening is that some opportunists are trying to destroy the party that made them. Many of these people have benefitted greatly from the PDP, yet they are now working against it, even aligning with the ruling APC. Mark my words, they will regret it in the end.”

Wike’s Role? “A Rascal Will Always Be A Rascal”

When asked if he was specifically referring to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, Momodu refrained from naming individuals.

He explained, “I’m not pointing fingers at anyone in particular. Those who are trying to destroy the party are well-known to all. A rascal will always be a rascal, and they will recognize themselves.”

He also accused the APC of fomenting divisions within the PDP as part of a strategy to weaken the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Momodu added, “The APC is already planning for 2027, using rogue elements within the PDP to destabilize the party. They are using federal power to suppress the opposition, stirring sentiments against potential candidates, and even trying to paint Atiku Abubakar as too old to run again.”

“Nobody Is Questioning Tinubu’s Age, But They Target Atiku”

Momodu criticized the double standards in political discourse, pointing out that Atiku Abubakar is constantly attacked for his age, while Tinubu’s age is rarely questioned.
