Natasha raised the issue of her six-month suspension and allegations of sexual harassment at the Women in Parliament session at the United Nations in New York. In a heartfelt address, Natasha appealed for the intervention of global democratic bodies, asserting that her suspension was unjust and unlawful.
In response to her complaint, IPU President Tulia Ackson stated that while the institution had heard Natasha’s side of the story, it would also give Senate President Akpabio the opportunity to present his perspective before taking any further steps.
Ackson remarked, “We have listened to Senator Natasha’s concerns, and while we have heard her side, it is important that we also hear the other side, as is customary for the IPU. After that, we will decide on the necessary course of action.”
She added, “We acknowledge the concerns raised by Senator Natasha, and while our Nigerian delegate, Honorable Cavid, did not have time to speak, we recognize the importance of addressing all parties involved. As is customary, the IPU will proceed with the matter after hearing both sides.”
