Dele Sobowale Advocates For Investigation Into Buhari’s Handling Of Thirty Trillion Naira....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Buhari government has come under scrutiny for obtaining N30 trillion through Ways and Means (W&M) from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) over eight years, in violation of Section 38 (2) of the CBN Act. This section stipulates that such advances should not exceed five percent of the previous year’s actual revenue of the Federal Government.

The transactions were conducted without the prior approval of the National Assembly, as mandated by the CBN Act. Additionally, there is a lack of records detailing how the illegally collected funds were spent, raising concerns about transparency and accountability.

The infractions date back to 2017 when the government collected N1.1 trillion in W&M, representing 37.2 percent of the previous year’s revenue, far exceeding the legal limit of 5 percent. The government concealed this information from the National Assembly and the public.

Former President Buhari’s claim of transparency and accountability during a recent book launch has been refuted by revelations that the National Assembly was only aware of N23.7 trillion overdraft from the CBN in a letter received in January 2023.

The extent of these violations is unprecedented, with each year’s overdraw emboldening the government to commit more transgressions. The current administration has sought to convert the funds into a 40-year bond with a three-year moratorium, burdening present and future generations with the repayment of funds obtained unlawfully.

The call for action is directed at influential figures like Tinubu, a judge, who has yet to address these atrocities. Despite his role in supporting Buhari’s candidacy, he cannot shirk responsibility for holding the former President accountable.

A table depicting the percentage of W&M collected relative to the previous year’s revenue from 2017 to 2022 reveals the magnitude of executive lawlessness. The plea is made to stop chasing minor issues and focus on recovering the illegally obtained N30 trillion, holding those responsible accountable, and ensuring justice is served.

The former CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, is highlighted as a baffling figure in these events. While previously perceived as a competent professional, his role in the scandal raises questions about whether he was blackmailed or threatened to comply with the illegal withdrawals.

The urgency for a thorough investigation, asset seizure, and accountability is emphasized, with a call for a full probe into the episode. The article concludes by urging readers to support the truth and calls for funding to write the true history of Buhari’s misrule.
