This visit resulted in the lifting of the UAE’s visa ban on Nigeria and 19 other African countries, which had been imposed in October 2022. Moreover, it facilitated the resumption of Etihad and Emirates airlines’ operations on Nigerian routes.

The statement, released by Kalu’s Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Levinus Nwabughiogu, revealed that the deputy speaker was addressing a gathering of Nigerian professionals in Sydney, Australia.

Kalu expressed his satisfaction with President Tinubu’s diplomatic endeavors, highlighting the positive outcome of the meeting between President Tinubu and his UAE counterpart.

This meeting led to the immediate cessation of the visa ban on Nigerian travelers. Kalu emphasized that both the visa ban and the suspension of flight operations had taken a toll on Nigeria’s economy while they were in effect.

Recognizing the longstanding diplomatic and trade ties between Nigeria and the UAE, Kalu extended his gratitude to President Tinubu for his proactive approach in personally engaging with President Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi to resolve the issues at hand.
