The Mavin Records boss made the disclosure during an appearance on the Keeping It Real With Jima podcast, where he reflected on his early experiences with rejection.
According to him, repeated rejection during his school years had a psychological impact on him, affecting his confidence for a long time.
He explained that after rising to fame, he decided to search for some of those former schoolmates in an attempt to confront and overcome the emotional impact of those experiences.
“I wasn’t good-looking during my secondary school days. Thank God for music because I was constantly being rejected by girls. After I became successful, I went back to look for all the girls who rejected me, but most of them were already married,” he said.
Meanwhile, Don Jazzy also hinted that he may look beyond Nigeria in his search for a life partner, suggesting that East African countries are now on his radar.
He made the remark during a light-hearted exchange with fans on Instagram, where he was described as an “African treasure” belonging to the entire continent.
Responding in a playful tone, he said he often feels a strong connection to several African countries, including Ghana, South Africa, and Uganda, despite never visiting Uganda.
He joked that if he does not find a wife in Nigeria, he may consider seeking one from Uganda or Tanzania, adding that he has heard positive things about women from those countries.
“Sometimes I feel Ghanaian, sometimes South African, sometimes Ugandan—even though I’ve never been there. I hear it’s hot there, and the ladies are nice,” he said.
“If I don’t find a wife in Nigeria, maybe I should go to Uganda or Tanzania,” he added.
