Referring to recent reports alleging that Nigeria has manipulated its electricity supply to Niger, Sani unequivocally condemned such actions. He emphasized the critical role of power supplies and warned against its use as a tool for political coercion.
“The reported Nigerian alleged tampering with electricity supply to Niger Republic is wrong. We must not use power supplies as a means of political blackmail,” Sani tweeted.
Drawing on the potential implications, Sani further stated that Nigeria’s Kainji Dam could be rendered useless if Niger decided to establish their power station across their section of the River Niger. CONTINUE READING
In addition, Sani cautioned President Tinubu and other ECOWAS leaders against infringing on Niger’s sovereignty. He urged them to let Nigeriens decide how they wish to govern their nation, hinting at a possible dichotomy between military rule and democracy.
“President Tinubu and ECOWAS leaders should allow the People of Niger to decide on how they want their country to be governed,” he added.
Finally, Sani raised eyebrows as he subtly implicated France, warning Tinubu and the ECOWAS bloc not to be instigated into unnecessary conflict.
“Don’t be instigated by France to go to war that we don’t need. When we had military regime, we fought to free ourselves; let them make their decisions,” Sani concluded.
