The approval was disclosed by Governor Otti during Monday’s State Executive Council (EXCO) meeting through a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma.
Otti acknowledged the critical nature of the SSG’s duties, stating that the role cannot be effectively discharged remotely. He commended Professor Kalu for his outstanding service to the state and wished him well as he proceeds on leave.
Expressing his appreciation, Professor Kalu thanked the Governor for granting him the privilege to serve in an administration he said has “wiped the tears of Abia people and restored their pride.”
He assured the EXCO members that he would continue to support the development of the state even while away from office.
“Serving in a government that has brought pride and relief to the people of Abia is a dream fulfilled. I remain grateful to Governor Otti for his unwavering support,” he stated.
Professor Kalu, a renowned Chartered Accountant from Abam in Arochukwu Local Government Area, previously lectured in a Canadian university before joining Otti’s campaign team. He had taken a leave from his academic role and was later appointed SSG following Governor Otti’s electoral victory.
