Drama In Ekiti: Gov Oyebanji Makes U-Turn, Reinstates Sacked Commissioner

The reappointment was announced in Ado-Ekiti through a statement signed by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Yinka Oyebode, on Tuesday.

A formal letter issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Habaibat Adubiaro, directed Olatunbosun to immediately resume duties.

Governor Oyebanji had dissolved his cabinet on August 11, instructing commissioners and special advisers to hand over to permanent secretaries or senior civil servants. Six commissioners, however, including those overseeing Finance, Works, and Human Capital Development, were retained to ensure continuity in key sectors.

Explaining the decision, the governor said the shake-up was aimed at injecting fresh energy into governance while pursuing his administration’s agenda of shared prosperity.

Meanwhile, in Edo State, former Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu has taken legal action against ex-Governor Godwin Obaseki and the administration of Governor Monday Okpebholo. Shaibu is demanding unpaid allowances and entitlements accrued during his tenure as acting governor and deputy governor from 2016 to 2024.

The suit, filed before the National Industrial Court in Abuja, also seeks over ₦85 million allegedly incurred as medical bills for his wife, Maryann, within the same period.
