Drama In Wadata Plaza: Police Nab PDP Officials Amid Explosive Power Tussle

According to Punch, a group of policemen stormed the secretariat and forcefully apprehended Ibu, ignoring pleas and resistance from other staff members. Efforts by his colleagues to prevent the arrest were swiftly crushed as the officers overpowered them and whisked Ibu away in a patrol vehicle.
This dramatic development unfolded amid mounting tensions over the contentious National Secretary position and the upcoming 100th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting—issues that have sharply deepened divisions within the party.
Security presence at Wadata Plaza, the PDP’s national headquarters, was visibly intensified on Monday. Rival factions braced for parallel meetings, prompting heavy deployment of personnel from the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps. Access points were blocked with traffic cones and patrol vehicles, while armed officers maintained a watchful eye over the premises.
The heart of the crisis lies in the ongoing dispute over decisions made by the party’s Acting National Chairman—moves the Board of Trustees (BoT) has condemned as “unconstitutional and unilateral.”
Access to the PDP Secretariat has since been heavily restricted, with many visitors and staff either denied entry or subjected to strict security checks.
