In a recent interview with CBS, Ayra Starr revealed that working on the film was a major shift from her usual experience in the music industry. She explained that the movie set demanded strict discipline, punctuality, and hard work—something she described as similar to military training.

Children of Blood and Bone is my first-ever movie,” she said. “I’m used to being a singer and a diva on set, but with acting, it’s not about you. You have to show up on time and stay committed. It really got me used to military-style discipline and hard work. I have a new level of respect for actors—their stamina is incredible.”

She added that acting has always been a dream of hers, even though she had previously been too shy to pursue it seriously.

“I’ve always wanted to act,” she continued. “Music is my first love, but acting has been close to my heart. This is the first time I’ve been in front of a camera and not singing. It was an amazing learning experience. I gained so much from everyone around me—not just the seasoned stars, but the entire crew.”

Children of Blood and Bone is based on the bestselling novel by Nigerian-American author Tomi Adeyemi. Directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, the film boasts a stellar cast, including Damson Idris, Tosin Cole, Idris Elba, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Cynthia Erivo, Viola Davis, and Thuso Mbedu.
