Speaking on Sunday during an APC stakeholders’ meeting for the Nasarawa West Senatorial Zone in Keffi, Governor Sule called for unity, maturity, and strict adherence to due process. He emphasized that the party’s primaries would be conducted transparently, assuring aspirants of a level playing field.
“I am committed to ensuring that the primaries are free, fair, and credible,” Sule stated, as reported by Naija News.
The governor also hinted at his intention to back a candidate of his choice when the time is right.
“Just like any party member, I have the right to support a candidate. When the moment comes, I will openly and confidently endorse who I believe is best suited to succeed me,” he declared.
However, he reminded party members that ultimate power lies with God, urging them to avoid unnecessary political tension and instead focus on strengthening the party.
“Leadership is determined by God. Let us focus on unity and the growth of our party,” he said.
Also speaking at the event, former APC National Chairman and ex-Governor of Nasarawa, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, made a passionate case for Nasarawa West (Keffi Zone) to produce the next governor in 2027.
According to Adamu, “Keffi Zone has governed for eight years, Lafia for twelve, and Akwanga is on its second and final term. It is only just that the Western Zone produces the next governor.”
He called for solidarity among stakeholders in the zone, cautioning against internal divisions that could jeopardize their chances.
“This gathering is to build unity and momentum for 2027. Let us work together and avoid distractions,” Adamu stressed.
Governor Sule also commended party members for their disciplined behavior during President Bola Tinubu’s recent visit to Nasarawa, urging other zones to emulate Keffi’s commitment by organizing similar stakeholder forums to boost party cohesion ahead of the elections.
“I commend the organizers of this meeting and encourage other zones to hold similar engagements for the good of our party,” he concluded.
The meeting brought together top APC leaders from both the state and national levels, as the party begins early groundwork for the 2027 electoral contest.
