“Drama Unfolds As ADC Claims Dino Melaye Is ‘Not Our Member’ In Bold Accusation”

The party’s Public Relations Officer, Tayo John, issued the warning on Friday in Lokoja, accusing the former senator of repeatedly meddling in party matters and launching baseless attacks against the ADC.
“Let me state clearly that Dino Melaye is not a member of the ADC in Kogi State. He is not recognised in his ward as belonging to our party,” John said.
“He has no standing within our structure and is therefore unqualified to speak on behalf of the ADC in Kogi State.”
John further alleged that Melaye only invokes the party’s name for personal publicity.
“Dino is not a recognised member of the ADC. He is an impostor; his actions do not reflect those of the African Democratic Congress,” he added.
According to him, Melaye has neither paid membership dues nor taken part in any party activities at the state, local government, or ward levels—requirements for valid membership.
“On this basis, he is not qualified or acknowledged as a representative of our party at any level,” John stated.
He reaffirmed that Hon. Leke Abejide, a two-term member of the House of Representatives elected on the ADC platform, remains the party’s national leader.
“Hon. Leke Abejide is a committed member of the ADC and has been financially up-to-date since 2018,” he said.
John emphasized that Melaye and others in the coalition met Abejide in the party and therefore cannot lay claim to authority over him.
“Their purported suspension or expulsion of Abejide is illegal,” he said. “Abejide has already taken the matter to court, and they lack the authority to demand that his seat be declared vacant.”
The ADC called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Inspector-General of Police, and the general public to disregard Melaye’s comments and political assertions.
“His intention is to destabilize the ADC, just as he has done to his previously claimed political parties for personal gain. We will not tolerate it,” John warned.
He concluded that the outcomes of two ongoing court cases—one filed by Abejide and another by the Benue ADC chairman—will ultimately determine the legitimate leadership of the party.
