Power Move: Vice President Shettima Touches Down In South Africa For High-Stakes G20 Talks
Vice President Kashim Shettima has departed Abuja to represent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the G20 Leaders’ Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
This development follows President Tinubu’s decision to remain in Nigeria to address pressing security issues in the country.
The announcement was made on Friday in a statement issued by Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media & Communications (Office of the Vice President).
President Tinubu had earlier postponed his planned trip to Johannesburg in order to receive further security briefings on recent incidents in Kebbi and Kwara States.
The invitation to attend the summit was extended by South Africa’s President, Cyril Ramaphosa, who currently chairs the G20 group.
The Summit, scheduled for Saturday, November 22, to Sunday, November 23, at the Johannesburg Expo Centre, will gather leaders from the world’s major economies, including representatives of the European Union, the African Union, and global financial institutions.
Vice President Shettima is expected to return to Nigeria after the conclusion of the summit’s engagements.
